My Cameras

I use one of three cameras depending on the situation. All of them are digital cameras and none of them are DSLR.

o Nikon E8800, 8 mega pixels, 35 mm to 350 mm lens (10X zoom), very good vibration reduction. Fully automatic to fully manual. This is a great camera and I have been extremely happy with its performance. One particular feature that I find really convenient is the opening and rotating display screen, which means that I don’t have to lie on the ground for low shots or climb on a chair for the high ones!

o Canon A710IS, 7.1 mega pixels, 5.8 mm to 34.8 mm lens (6X zoom), vibration reduction. Fully automatic to fully manual. I use this camera for situations where I need a smaller camera than the Nikon, but one that still gives me a good quality photograph.

o Canon SD300, 4 mega pixels, 5.8 mm to 17.4 mm lens (3X zoom). This is truly a shirt pocket camera but with an optical viewfinder, which is unusual for a camera this size. I carry this one around with me all the time.

o I use a polarizing filter on the Nikon where it would be beneficial, but no other filters.

o Post camera manipulation is done in Adobe Elements 6.0, which is all I need at this time. I try to keep computer processing to a minimum, mostly cropping and minor colour enhancement. This is to encourage me to get the best possible result into the camera at the time of exposure.
