Walker Evans

Born in 1903 in St. Louis, Missouri, Walker Evans worked for the U.S. Farm Security Administration and documented the effects of the Great Depression – mostly its effect on migrant farm workers. His later work (as demonstrated here) is more of an abstract modernist style
